Birthday Greetings from Coruscant *Updated 10/1*
Description: Another year gone by, means I'm another year older, but it also means that I get to create another birthday image! =D This time, it's Daru from the rooftops of Coruscant. Perhaps she's on vacation like I am? (I took the day off).

I've been getting a lot of requests for Ciel, so look forward to seeing some of her soon.

Thanks for looking and thanks especially to those taking the time to leave comments.

*Edit: I re-spun this to increase the quality and fix a few issues that were present in the previous version. Enjoy the improved edition!*

Beautiful

The model is good, but you've outdone yourself in the background. Amazing image.

Totally amazing.

hi res problem

The picture is amazing as usual but the hi res image download is really blurry. Not half as sharp as your usual high res work :< . I hope it was a mistake.

well then...

I can see you have been busy since I've been gone and wow am I liking what I'm seeing!
I must say that is a very good pose for Daru.
One little thing though(I'm a stickler for detail) on her left arm(the one farthest to the right on the pic) the elbo seems...somewhat deformed. I'm guessing it's supposed to be wrinkles.
Anywho I still LOVE IT!!!

I don't worry about getting old. I'm immortal. :-p

This is a lovely looking scene. Everything looks clean and bright, with a great mix of blue and white colours. I'm guessing that Coruscant has pretty much eliminated all pollution!

Daru looks just right for the scene, wearing that outfit. Her colours match the background perfectly.

I did notice some rendering problems. Her right hand has a couple of issues. First of all, her glove has a few holes in it around her index finger. You could say that these holes are from wear and tear but it looks like the fabric has fallen through it in places. I'm guessing that this might be due to the second problem, however. Where her hand is on her hip, you can see that her shorts/hot pants have gone through the hand. You can see this at the back, with the black/grey lining. Could this be anything to do with where the thumb should be?

Other than this, this is a beautiful image.

By the way, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Ciel again. You mentioned getting lots of requests. So the requests to see her again weren't all entirely from me? And those dollar bills I kept sending haven't had anything to do with it? ;-)

Observation & Complaint

Nice... But, uh, you could have shown the legs. Also, what is the significance of the number on her belt? Is that a certain date?

Ears...

This is a really good picture, I really like it. I didn't mention anything except uh... aren't Twilek's supposed to not have ears like humans have ?

Re: Focus, Numbers, Ears, and Imperfections

Focus: Vue generally produces a softer image than Poser, but a handful of my old Vue images came out very sharp. I'm investigating why the difference, but have come up with no concrete reasons for the difference as of yet.

Numbers: Just part of the outfit texture. Maybe I'll customize them in the future.

Ears: It's somewhat up for debate, IMO. Males clearly have been depicted to have normal, human-like ears. Star Wars Galaxies depicts females as essentially having ears, though smaller and more fleshy, but not entirely like the horn-like protrusions depicted in some other places. Finally, the new official art for the SWG Card Game has at least one female Twi'lek with a head wrap covering that lies completely flat and flush with the side of her head (it currently can be seen on lucasarts.com as the page header for their link to the SWG page), leaving no room for a horn-like protrusion, at the least indicating that their "ears" would be made of soft flesh.

All of that is a long way of saying, I don't think the issue of human ears or horn-like ears is really resolved, and all of my girls, have human-like ears. Chalk it up to Star Wars cosmetic surgery if you must explain it away (though I assure you all the rest of the girls are all natural *wink* ). Weirder things have certainly happened in the Star Wars universe.

Imperfections: Good eye, SW. I missed just about all of those when I was finishing up this image. I did have a strict deadline to meet! In the next day or two, I'll fix them up, re-post the image, and make a note on its description when it has been done so you guys can grab the new version. I'll see if there's anything that can be done about the hi-res version's sharpness as well, but as mentioned earlier in this post, the past few days' experimentation on the matter have not yielded much in the way of results.

Ears

Regarding those ears, there has always been some variation and one source can't make its mind up from the next. Unless someone somewhere has actually written a reason why, there doesn't seem to be any reason why Twi'lek males have got human ears and why the females vary with what they have (but usually having something conical). Kind of like the question as to why the males look ugly and the women look like human women but with different skin and eye colours, and have lekku.

I don't think I have ever seen George Lucas' Twi'lek women (as in whatever have been featured in the movies) without that headgear that covers the ears, with the exception of Aayla Secura. Off the top of my head, I think she is the only Twi'lek female that has exposed ears and they happen to be those cones. Anything outside of the movies either has them with human ears, smooth, circular and almost flat ears or those cones. Most of the time their ears are covered with that traditional headgear, which kind of solves any debate.

For the record, I personally prefer either the human ears like Giolon features on his Twi'lek girls or some kind of headgear that covers the ears, whether it is the traditional headgear with large cones, similar headgear with smaller cones (like Chimera often also uses for his Twi'leks) or some alternative.

I certainly wouldn't kick a Twi'lek out of bed (to use a particular expression) if she had cones or the flat, smooth ears but I do think the other alternatives I mentioned are far more appealing.

Incredible.

It's a really amazing pic, and Daru really goes with the scenery but if I can make one minor complaint it's that I'm getting kind of sick of Daru. I love her, don't get me wrong, but I want to see more of the other ladies.

Like Ciel. You don't have nearly enough Ciel and she's my personal favorite.

Nice work!

Now we're talking! Everything is looking nicer now. Her hand is much better, now that her thumb is back. Not only does she have all her digits back but it has sorted out the problem with the holes in her glove and the merging with her shorts.

I've noticed that the background scenery looks sharper and more defined now as well. The window frames on the buildings are greatly improved.

Even Daru is happy about it. See, she's giving the V-sign! Okay, so she was doing that before but now she is doing it with feeling. :-p

Awesome!

This is just a great picture! But Coruscant has not got a sky like this.

RE: Coruscant Sky - I beg to differ.

The prequel films have repeatedly shown Coruscant with cloudy blue skies, seen from the tops of the buildings. However, I do admit that here we're missing all the sky traffic since I didn't have time to get some in there by my self-imposed deadline. Let's just say the Emperor declared it a global no-fly holiday. ;)
